Sunday Walk - Festive Folk & Ale by the Sea in Sandwich (map led)

Map-led Sultry Sunday:  Deal to Sandwich with Folk and Ale Festival

Train:  10:04AM Ramsgate-bound train from London St. Pancras (10:12 Stratford) to Deal. Return trains from Sandwich are at 27 or 28 past the hour until 21:28

Difficulty:  None -- this is a flat walk along the coast.

Distance:  About 4 miles.

This outing is designed for a lazy Sunday with a short walk, a swim and a visit to Sandwich Folk & Ale Festival -- what a great combo for a sultry Sunday! This is a very simple map-led walk -- it is basically an extension of the Dover to Deal walk. You can access the map by looking at the Dover to Deal walk. From the sea front in Deal turn left and walk with the sea on your right for about 4 miles.  There are a few places in Sandwich Bay where you can cut inland to the village. I would recommend the route through the golf course (the second path on the map).

Enjoy it all -- the swim, the music and the ale!

N=3 perhaps not surprising for a long journey to a walk with no directions and a website giving little idea what to find at the other end. (I seem to remember, years ago, there were written directions for this excursion).
Anyway, we got there, Saxon Way clearly marked. My Fitbit made it 7 miles rather than 4. Not complaining, just saying.
2 went swimming, 1 promptly got out again (too stoney). The other made an effort. The designated bag-watcher watched bags.
In Sandwich, there was evidence of things happening. Feathers in hats, men in skirts, bells, that sort of thing.
We went to the Cattle Market, where the main stages were. Some good music. Zydeco/ Cajun.
A kindly benefactor bought Mr Tiger an overly strong cider (8%, blimey).
The co-walkers left for the 16:21. Mr Tiger stayed to rekindle old memories. The Red Cow, once interesting, had gone a bit heavy metal .Didn’t stay long there.
Finally found his mojo outside the Time and Tide a micro-thingy with a blues cum jazz band playing both inside and out . Felt morally obliged to buy a half of pilsner. Clapped. Got the 17:21, slightly the worse for wear ‘hic’. Weather: w=mostly-sunny
