Hi as its very hot today I am going to do the westhumble circ starting earlier at 10.34
9 off the train at Effingham Junction were glad of the lingering cloud and light breeze which made the heat less intense. An earlier start might have been wiser but a relaxed pace and a good stretch of shady woodland helped prevent overheating. We stayed together until Polesden Lacey by which time the sun had banished the clouds. We all sought shelter for lunch, some picnicking under trees and four under the cover of the restaurant's outdoor space. After lunch and ice-cream for some, we all decided to do the slightly shorter route to Westhumble via Tanner's Hatch. We splintered into three sub groups early on in the afternoon and reached Westhumble at different times. Four had drinks in the Stepping Stones before catching the pleasantly air conditioned 16.46 train back to London. Including the early starter, there were n=10 on the walk in w=early-cloud-later-intense-sun
And 1 more doing the westhumble circ. Setting off earlier helped I think
