For the return journey, there are 2 train stations in Coulsdon, within 10 minutes walk of each other:
Belmont and South Coulsdon stations are in London Travelcard Zone 6
This walk has a surprisingly rural feel. After crossing Banstead Common, it initially follows the London Loop, then continues past Mayfield Lavender field, into which I suggest a quick detour. Then continue through Oaks Park, and along Oaks Track between the fields of the Little Woodcote Estate. Here you may see free range chickens, horses and rare breed sheep and there may even be a few blackberries. When on Oaks Track, you'll need to skip the short northern loop around Naturally Thinking's Lavender Farm as it's temporarily closed.
There are end-of-walk refreshments
on or near Brighton Road in Coulsdon at the end of the walk, including:As usual, please remember to bring your directions from the L=Short.23 webpage.

#4 walkers on a #warm_pleasant_evening. Never leaving Greater London, we saw butterflies, rare breed sheep, horses, happy chickens, lavender and picked a few blackberries along the way. It was a quiet evening for a walk, especially between about 7.45 and 9.30. With no idea of "the score", we arrived in Coulsdon just in time to hear a loud cheer from a nearby house. Either England had scored or dinner was ready.
