Trains: take the 9.57 Chiltern Railways train from London Marylebone arriving Chorleywood 10.24.
Returning from Chesham, Metropolitan Line trains run at xx.15, 25,45 and 55) to London Marylebone.
Tickets : Chesham is in London Transport zone nine, Chalfont & Latimer in zone eight and Chorleywood in zone seven, so you can use Oyster or contactless to pay for your journey. Freedom Passes are also valid all the way to Chesham.
Lunch: The Red Lion ( 01923 282 722 ) or The Bedford Arms ( 01923 283 301 ) in Chenies are 6.4km (3.9 miles) into the main walk.
Tea: The Drawingroom , Frances Yard, Chesham (01494 791 691) is in a courtyard just off the pedestrianised part of Chesham high street (to the left, about 50 metres before the clock tower). It is open until 5pm on Sundays.
Otherwise, there is the usual choice of chain outlets. Cafe Nero, is open till 5.30pm daily, while Costa Coffee is open till 6pm daily.

8 caught the posted train and 1 missed it but caught up at Chenies finding 3 picnickers in the grounds of a church hall and 4 pub lunchers in the Red Lion. One had carried on to finish early and caught a train from Chalfont and Latimer. So #9 in total. The late starter took the shortcut from Chorleywood to Chenies, the others had all followed the main route and were very enthusiastic about it. The picnickers went for drinks at the Red Lion and while the lunchers enjoyed their food, the coffee had a very peculiar taste - nothing like coffee. We set off together after lunch and enjoyed lovely countryside all the way to Chesham where some went for refreshments and two went straight to the station. The Metropolitan line was operating a reduced service due to a fire at Neasden, keeping us waiting the best part of an hour. One lucky walker had got there ahead of the group and caught the 4pm train, the rest caught the 5pm to Harrow on the Hill where we had to change for a train to Baker Street. Despite the travel issues, we had a lovely day with w=sunshine-roaming-clouds-and-one-light-shower after lunch.
