Un ballo in maschera is based on the real life assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden in 1792.  It is a dramatic and emotional charged opera that blends romance, political intrigue and tragedy.  Verdi's rich orchestration and memorable melodies make the opera both captivating and deeply moving.
