During Sean's Saturday walk from Blackheath to Canary Walk a few months back, we were disappointed to find that the Painted Hall was closed for renovation. However this renovation has now been completed and the scaffold used is still in place. This allows visitors the opportunity to get "up close" to the ceiling paintings on a 60 minute guided tour.

The nearest station is Greenwich DLR. (You can of course plan your journey at TFL's Web Site.)
After your visit, there is an opportunity for a short walk from Greenwich to London Bridge, following the Southern Thames Path. There are two late lunch options along the way, the Piccalilli Caff at Surrey Docks City Farm or the Mayflower Pub at Rotherhithe Village.
Those wishing to leave at Rotherhithe may catch the Overground there.

n=5 of us made it to this and it was excellent
The tour with a very knowledgeable guide took about an hour and the tours are going on for the next couple of years by all accounts so plenty of opportunity to visit
There is still a lot of work going on on the restoration so a return trip in say a years time would be good to see the difference
3 of us wandered along the Thames path, called in to Surry Docks farm to pick up some produce and then further for lunch at The Mayflower before departing at Rotherhithe staion.
