Hello. Sorry for the late message. Are these winter midweek walks usually well-attended? I'd like to join tomorrow but don't want to find myself the only soul at Holmwood. Thank you!

Hi Kate
Wednesday walks are usually well attended and the forecast for tomorrow is good so you are unlikely to be alone.

20 people including a newcomer met at Holmwood train station and 1 person who missed their train caught up with us at lunch pub so #21 in total on a sunny-but-cool day. The walk was lovely, but with the first stirrings of mud in the fields and by gates where cattle had made merry. We kept together fairly well until lunch. Several people had lunch in the churchyard or using outdoor pub seating after purchasing a drink at the bar and informing pub we may have a snack with our drinks. I think about 7 had pub lunch (one walker ate his pub lunch outside in the sunshine) joined by some sandwichers for a drink. The sandwich eaters then carried on walking through very pretty countryside, and arrived in Reigate around 3.20 and some had tea in Blooms and Bakes, which though very pleasant, unfortunately was going to close at teatime (4pm). Four of us then arrived at Reigate station, but took different trains home. Others must have used various trains to return to London. A very enjoyable and pretty walk in lovely sunny weather.

w=Sunny-but-cool. (Actually I would say sunny and warm, being the pub luncher who ate outside in the sunshine, but I defer to the original walk report...). Thanks to whichever of the weather gods decided we should have sunshine all day, contrary to the forecast: I will sacrifice a goat...

It is worth noting for future reference on a weekday that the 4.32 train from Reigate to Victoria was absolutely rammed with college students: very hard to find a seat.
