This is a pleasant section of the Greensand Way, passing through gentle Surrey countryside, with a mix of pasture, arable fields and woodland, and some fine escarpment views typical of the Greensand Way.Waymarking on the route is often fairly poor, hence these directions. While the route largely follows the Greensand Way, in a couple of places alternatives are suggested to avoid walking on busy roads.
Trains: Get the Thameslink 0951 Three Bridges train from London Bridge (East Croydon 1006, various stops in London) arriving 1025. Buy an Edenbridge Stations return.
Returns from Oxted are xx23 xx53 to Victoria, xx20 to London Bridge
Lunch: The Red Lion in Bletchingley after 3.8 miles gives an early lunch. The Barley Mow, Tandridge (01882 713770), 13km (8.1 miles) into the walk is a possible late lunch. it was closed a year ago but looks to be open from its website.
Tea: The Haycutter in Broadham Green provides a possible late afternoon break. Oxted has various options, including a Weatherspoons by the station

What great weather for this lovely walk, with it's great views. N=13 set off together and took the first variation. By the time we hit the main route again, the four front runners had disappeared, having continued on the variation. The rest of us had an adventurous time encountering boot swallowing mud for a couple of us and some somewhat intimidating horses galloping around. Most people picniced, with 3 of us eating in the Barley Mow, to be joined by the rest of the group. Cohesion pretty good with only 3 pressing on.
Knowing there was just 2 miles to go, made for a relaxed walk to Oxted, tempting 3 of us into the Hay Cutter for a swift half. (it would make for a good lunch pub). This break was perfectly timed as we arrived to join the rest of the group as the 1623? pulled into the station. A great autumn day out.
