Take the 10.00 Portsmouth Harbour train from Waterloo (10.25
Woking), arrives Guildford 10.32. From Clapham Junction take the 09.57
to Woking and change there.
Return trains from Farnham are on xx.28 and xx.58
(changing at Woking may cut off a few minutes).
Buy a Farnham return.
Pretty villages, gentle green pastures, and the country houses of
retired stockbrokers. Then, after lunch, surprisingly wild and uninhabited
Surrey heathlands - a vast area of woods and heather-covered moors (now past
their best).

I only went as far as Puttenham as I had things to do later but I can report #7 on the walk in #occasional-sun. Two had a lunch date with whom they rendezvoused at Watts Chapel; all the rest visited the pub in Puttenham where one ate - fish and chips looked good.
