6 set off from Effingham Junction in w=crisp-clear-sunny conditions, perfect for walking. Paths were dry, woods were beautiful with shafts of strong sunlight cutting through. Scarlet pimpernel and other wild flowers were admired. Cyclamen seem to be popping up in lots of places lately. I've never noticed them in autumn before. We briefly encountered walker n=7 at Polesden Lacey. He had set off half an hour ahead of us and had lunch in the restaurant (very good he said) and he planned to take the short route to Westhumble. The rest of us picnicked outside the cafe. Two decided to have a look around as it was their first visit to PL. The other four followed the route via Denbie's to Westhumble. One was planning to take a bus, two may have caught the 15.46 London Bridge train, one caught the 16.08 to Clapham Junction. A lovely day with long clear views of the surrounding countryside as well as London landmarks.
