A special treat for this week, a lovely sunset over the City from THE hill in Essex (see banner photo) with atmospheric castle ruins near where the Thames meets the sea on the way to Leigh-on-Sea… It should take about 2 hours to walk to Leigh-on-Sea – so time to have a meal in one if its many pubs before heading back to London. More information about the route can be found here .
Look forward to seeing you there!

n=8 adventurers braved the breezy forecast for a delightful evening walk in w=dry-and-mild-but-breezy conditions. The official sunset spot on THE hill did not disappoint with a fine yellow glow on the western horizon and the city of London clearly visible. A suggestion was made for a more direct route to Hadleigh Castle which we tried -- not a bad choice for an evening outing as it does save about 10 minutes -- but at the same time not as pleasant as the original route. All but one came to the pub where we enjoyed a convivial dinner and drinks before a bit of a dash for the 10:46pm train..... on board we enjoyed some further drinks that were brought by one of our regular evening walkers which made the long journey home a bit shorter -- many thanks!
