Matthew Bourne’s audacious, rule-breaking reinvention of Tchaikovsky’s masterpiece caused a sensation when it first staged at Sadler’s Wells in London in 1995 almost 30 years ago. It is still best known for replacing the female corps-de-ballet with a menacing male ensemble, which shattered convention, turning tradition on its head. It took the dance theatre world by storm and has since been performed across the globe, collecting over thirty international accolades including the Olivier Award and three Tony Awards.

Advance notice to give you a wider selection of price range of tickets. Cheaper tickets are likely to sell out.
Some walkers have booked tickets in Second circle row H
There is a BBC interview with Sir Matthew Bourne about his life, career and how the idea of Swan Lake came about. You can get it on BBC Sound under This Cultural Life. It is available until Oct 7th this year.
Hello, Swan Lake looked great but tickets sold out for some time now.
Hi Wendy, I am sorry tickets are all sold out. I had expected the show would be popular. This is why the post has been on the website since September 2024 when there were still lots of tickets available. You can check for returns via Sadler's website. Good luck!
This production will be on tour across Britain after Sadler’s Wells until July. If you can’t get the ticket in London, there are loads of tickets available elsewhere, including Milton Keynes. Here is the link. https://musicalsontour.co.uk/matthew-bournes-swan-lake-tour/
Just checked the Sadler’s Wells website, there are limited return tickets available on Jan 10.
2025 social event kicked off with a big bang! Wow, Wow, Wow, what a brilliant show that was! I have seen Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake when it first came out years ago. I had expected that this re-launch of the ‘Next Generation’ would be good. It was not just good, it was fantastic, even better than the original.
N=13 came to Wilmington pub for the pre-show F&B. This is a gastro pub with restaurant type of food served. Some options of pub classics are available if one insists but what is the point when more delicious food is on offer. All enjoyed the meal. The service was efficient and left more than enough time for us to get to Sadler’s Wells.
The ballet was innovative, plot was humorous, many of us felt it was so much better than the classical version of Swan Lake we are all familiar with...., as one walker put it ‘The best production of Swan Lake I have seen’. It was a grand night out for all of us!
Go to see it, you won’t be disappointed!
PS: The show will be on tour across the country until July if you can’t find tickets at Sadler’s Wells.
