The NYD Walk West was a washout, so some of us are going to give it a go this Friday 03 January. We won't stop for a champagne break, but everything else - train times etc - is more or less as in the NYD posting.
If you are not at work or do not have other commitments for Friday please feel free to join us. The weather forecast looks a tad better than the one for NY Day !

Ended up doing the walk on NYD...and met up with a Berkshire
Walking group on the return...weather proved to be not so bad ...enjoy today's outing..
After a washed out New Year’s Day, our patience was rewarded with a proper winter walk -#frost-sunny-blue-skies-and-firm-under-foot. #8 gathered to make the most of the day. The low sun shone steadfastly and we enjoyed beautiful views of a placid Thames, the frosty valleys and fast flowing streams. The highlight of the morning? Seeing a herd of fallow deer crossing our path, leaping with varying degrees of expertise over fences.
Lunch for 7 was at the Stag and Huntsman in Hambleden with 1 picknicking nearby saving himself for the Wetherspoons in Henley. The hearty fare was the better choice with the fish and chips and ham hock and fried eggs receiving special mention.
After lunch the crew walked at different speeds depending on the need to return to London and the desire to take photos. The low light on the riverside was almost blinding as the sun set behind the church in Henley. But the sight of an eight and two skulls gliding up a glassy Thames was not to be missed.
Refreshment choices at the end varied from nothing to chocolate cake to a pint in the Wetherspoons. As we waited on the platform, we admired the crescent moon next to a very bright Venus in a clear night sky. A welcome break from miserable weather. Will it really snow tomorrow?
