Toughness: 4 out of 10
This is an easy but interesting walk to a historic pub, the 12thC Crown Inn in Chiddingfold. After lunch the walk is through Frillinghurst Wood and various National Trust estates, coming out into Haslemere High Street near two tearooms.
Trains: 10.00 from London Waterloo (Clapham Junction 10.09, Woking 10.33) arrives Witley 10.59.
Returning from Haslemere to London there are trains at xx.17 and xx.49.
Buy a return ticket to Haslemere.
Lunch: The recommended pub is Crown Inn Chiddingfold which is 6.1 km into the walk.
If you cannot get in to the Crown, you could try the Swan pub or Elliott's Coffee Shop.
Tea: Various options in Haslemere. Hemingway's is popular and there are plenty of other cafes on the High Street as well as a couple of pubs.

Crown is very popular for Sunday lunch and also expensive. They probably won’t welcome walkers without a booking.
N= 11 set off from Witley station on a mild day with w=sunshine-and--light-cloud.. The group split between picnickers and pub lunchers . Two had booked a table at the Swan and were able to squeeze in three more as they arrived early and it had not got too busy. One took a shortcut cutting out Chiddingfold and after an unintended detour around Frillinghurst wood was caught up by four other picnickers
.... continuation of previous comment.
Two caught the 15.19 train, 3 went to the Swan pub in Haslemere as did 3 of the pub lunchers who arrived as they were leaving. The later group caught the 17.17 train. A lovely day and a lovely walk . Plenty of muddy paths but not so squelchy as to seep through boots. We passed a field with Jacob ewes (white with brown patches) identified by one of the pub lunchers.
