The Xmas party will be held at Silver Cross, 33 Whitehall, SW1A 2BX from 6pm. It is a short walk from Trafalgar Square, well connected to the tube and rail.
Our party will be in the lower ground floor reserved exclusive for our use. Some nibbles will be provided by the SWC. If you prefer dinner, the pub offers festive menu as well as pub classics. For food menu, please click here.

A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the running of the SWC in 2024

Thank you all for coming to this great celebration of SWC. The feedback for the venue and food was excellent. I shall keep this in mind for our future parties. In the meantime, have a wonderful holiday season and all the best for the new year!
Leaving the party I did come across a venue which is worth considering for future parties with an apt name: Walkers of Whitehall :)
Thanks for organising it, Lucilla. I know it involves quite a bit of work. The unseen paddling feet under the serenely gliding duck of the SWC !!
Dear Karan, thank you for your suggestion. I felt extremely lucky to have found Silver Cross. There are several pubs around Whitehall, I have checked out all of them in the past since I pass by the area every week.
The main issue we have is that during the festive month of December, all of them have a very high minimal spend requirement, either in the form of monetary value or mandatory requirment to take their buffet dinner with fixed price per person. The latter is not what we do at SWC.
The pub you mentioned, Walkers of Whitehall, does have a few function areas, but the only one that is suitable is the cellar which can accommodate up to 100 people standing and the area is not dissimilar to what we had in Silver Cross. The minimum spend, however, is £2500,
with £1250 deposit at the time of booking. Another pub down Whitehall, also has a large enough function area, a minimum spend was £1500 two years ago.
At Silver Cross, there was NO minimum spend, all they need was £150 deposit to hold the room which then can be offset towards £200 worth of food that the club pays for the party.
If you come across a classy pub, that can accommodate 50 Pplus people,
AND with a small deposite to book,
AND with NO minimum spend,
AND BETTER than Silver Cross,
AND centrally located within easy reach of public transportation,
Do let me know. I would be happy to check it out.
