Hayes Circular

t=SWC.281

Length: 9.5km (6m)
Toughness: 1 / 10
Transport: Take the 9:48 train from London Charing Cross, arriving at Hayes at 10:33. Return trains every 15mins.

On the shortest day of the year, one of our shorter walks. It visits Hayes, Keston and West Wycombe commons and the source of the river Ravensbourne. There are plenty of lunch options in Keston: The Greyhound, The Fox (a gastro pub) and the 222 Cafe. For tea back in Hayes there is the New Inn pub, a Costa cafe, but also the Real Ale Way, a pub that serves local ales and still cider. Last time I was there it also had mulled cider ....

12 walkers off the train, 2 by car and 1 materialized out of thin air (later train?) which totals #15. Most followed the twists and turns
of the many loops of the walk on the way to Keston where 5 ate in the cafe TripleTwo which was busy but served delicious food,
some I guess had a picnic and maybe a drink in the Greyhound and 5 did not stop, instead completed the walk to have lunch in the Thai restaurant in Hayes.
Almost everybody agreed that having a final drink in the Real Ale Way would be nice, the problem was that we all arrived too early before it opened
at 14:00. So, some just loitered around the station, others went to the local cafe while the Thai lunchers were still finishing their meal.
When the pub opened, we piled in and enjoyed special beers and ciders (Monk's Spiced, Santa Paws, ...) before taking various routes home.
