Evening Walk -- Canary Wharf Winter Lights are Back!

Annual Canary Wharf Winter Lights Circuit

Meet:  18:30 Jubilee Line exit (on the DLR side).

Difficulty:  Easy -- flat well-lit pavements. The routes about 1.5-2 hours.

The popular Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival is back for its 9th edition! As in years' past, please assemble just outside the DLR-side of the Jubilee Line. From here, head along Eden dock to find installation 1 at the far end and follow the route as outlined on the map.

"For its ninth edition, the trail will take you on a journey through 12 spectacular temporary installations, as well as ever-popular permanent light artworks. Showcasing some of the most innovative light artists across the globe, the 2025 festival explores the transformative and otherworldly qualities of art and light, featuring portals, black holes and mirages."

During and post walk refreshments can be had at a variety of places, but one good option for the end is the Market Halls located at 25 North Colonnade, near the Elizabeth Line. It has a variety of good food options and a large bar -- the Banana Leaf at Gopal's Corner is particularly recommended!

Have fun!

#10 met outside the Jubilee Line, in the midst of a stream of home-bound office workers heading into the station. On a #Cool-and-clear evening we started the clockwise route, mostly keeping together through the full circuit. The crowds were manageable and the event well organised with plenty of staff and one way routes to avoid congestion. The group's favourites were 12-Illusion Hole, 4-Wave, 7-Artificial Humans, 9-Bird Passing By. It was also interesting to see the newish Wood Wharf area with high-rise residential towers and high-end restaurants, on what used to be light industrial estate a few years ago. The route gets within a few minutes of the Gun pub (very good from memory), which could be an option on future walks. On our return to the tube station one observant walker noted we'd missed display Nr1. This reporter went back to see that, the others waited for one straggler with talk of getting the tube or a drink. Overall an excellent evening out.
