Length: 23.5 km (14.5 miles) with options to shorten to 18-19 km. 6/10
A varied South Downs walk featuring the Sussex Ouse, Centenary Park (Peacehaven), the Undercliff Path, Telscombe Tye, and optional climbs. It also passes a surprising monument to the point where the Greenwich Meridien crosses the coast, hence the walk page's reference to visiting both hemispheres.
Travel: 0954 from Victoria, changing at Lewes for the 1100 to Seaford, arriving at Southease six minutes later. Regulars will be familiar with the dash across the station at Lewes. The latter train normally waits till the train from London has left, so we should be fine, but be in the middle carriages to be nearest the stairs to Platform 3. Return trains from Southease at 05 past the hour.
Lunch: The recommended lunch stop is the Smugglers' Rest but an extremely wide choice in Peacehaven is listed on the walk intro page.
Tea: The YHA Courtyard Cafe, 200m beyond Southease station, is a good place to wait for the hourly return train.

Yes on this packed train going towards Lewes Anyone else? However may deviate and do Glynde to Seaford and visit Alex Polizzi s Hotel in Alfriston
Well didn't see any other walkers so did Glynde to Alfriston. Lovely new coffee and drinks bar at Glynde station now. It was wonderful to see the scenery of the South Downs but jolly hot too .Jane
Sorry Jane I didn’t fancy the walk in the heat or the journey after the experiences of Saturday and Sunday but glad you managed to do something worthwhile; yes the Steamworks at Glynde is good isn’t it
Yes, 4 of us at Southease on a scorching day though we soon divided into 2 x 2. With a short jog on a downhill we managed to make the 5-05 in both directions.
My correspondent adds that after splitting into two faster, two slower, all #4 arrived at Peachaven Smugglers Rest. Three were seen swimming from the beach below. Two continued on, two took a much shortened route back to Southease. "Enjoyable in the #hot-sunshine with a sometime gentle breeze".
Hi Sandy Well I was mainly very happy doing Glynde to Alfriston
