n=3 on today's walk on a w=sunny day which failed to deliver the much needed rain promised in the forecast. We walked along paths lined with bluebells and hawthorn , sniffed lilac flowering in someone's garden, admired rolling green hills and trudged up a couple of them, passed fields of wheat rapeseed and Lacy Phacelia interspersed with purple vetch, the abundance of flowers attracting butterflies and bees. On a short stretch of road, a large swarm of bees flew past, heading for a feast. We picnicked in the churchyard at Dane End and passed by the golf club without stopping for refreshment. Paths through fields were dry and cracked, hard underfoot making it tiring. All three took the shortcut from Sacombe and reached Watton at 3pm. One went to Budgens for refreshments and caught the 15.39 train. The other two had coffee at the Bull and caught the 16.59. I omitted to mention the George and Dragon in the walk post thinking it had closed. It reopened in October 25, now a Greene King pub and was advertising coffee and cakes as well as a lunch menu.
