The Motive and the Cue at National Theatre

Directed by Sam Mendes, this fierce and funny new play by Jack Thorne offers a glimpse into the politics of a rehearsal room and the relationship between art and celebrity

Why would the most famous movie star in the world choose to do a play which everyone already knows? And what lures us back to the same plays, year after year?

Richard Burton, newly married to Elizabeth Taylor, is to play the title role in an experimental new production of Hamlet under John Gielgud’s exacting direction.

But as rehearsals progress, two ages of theatre collide and the collaboration between actor and director soon threatens to unravel

To book the ticket, please click here.

Pre-Theatre F&B:  There are two self-service eateries next to each other at the ground floor of NT:  Atrium Cafe and KERB at the UNDERSTUDY.  You can purchase food and drink at either place or bring your own picnic.  Meet from 6pm at Atrium Cafe.

I will be setting up a Whatsapp group for easy co-ordinations close to the event.  If you wish to join this group,  please send your name and mobile number to swcsocialATgmailDOTcom.
