Cutting out the 3 hours or so journey time from London by staying in the area makes for a far more relaxed day than doing these walks on daytrips. And, with some luck, the weather will be fine as well…: here are 7 different walks over 4 days, 1 of them brand new, many others never posted before or not for a very long time.
Note: If there are track works on the Sunday, impacting journey times back to London in a meaningful way, Thursday’s walk will be switched to Monday; i.e.: try to book accommodation with flexibility.
Draft Walk Schedule:
· A walk trip for all fitness levels: All walks have either short options or will have shorter alternatives posted (see below).
· The Lulworth Castle walk (Winfrith Newburgh to Wool) has to be on a Thursday or Sunday, as castle and/or park are closed Fri and Sat.
· The Lulworth Cove Circular walk has to be on the weekend as the Lulworth Range is closed weekdays.
· Sunday’s walk can easily be shortened by leaving out the Durdle Door loop, seeing that half of that has been covered on Thursday already.
· The Maiden Newton walk has to be on a weekday, as the bus through Cerne Abbas and down the Cerne Valley (for a shortcut) does not run on the weekend.

I am really interested in doing some of those walks in Dorset . I am sure they are amazing if Thomas has written them. If anyone has any ides of reasonable or even cheap places to stay can they let me know .

Thomas, what's the logic behind possibly moving the Thursday walk to Monday if there are engineering works on Sunday? Do you mean you would move one of the two Thursday walks to Monday? or you would propose to shuffle the whole weekend along one day, so the walks would run Friday to Monday? looking at accommodation and trains now.

Hi Unknown (27 April), Thursday's walks would be posted on the Monday instead, if the trains on Sunday are severely disrupted and/or the journey back to London gravely extended from normal journey lengths.
Individual walks now posted.
Would anyone staying in Weymouth like to meet up this evening for a meal or a drink? Any recommendations? You can text me on 07583 186052
All in then, n=24 walkers on this trip, although 1 of those was never seen on any of the posted walks and 2 others had to return home for personal reasons without having been on a posted walk.
The weather was good for walking on 3 days and not on the 4th. It was good for swimming on most parts of 3 days. Buses and trains performed to schedule with the exception of the journey to Dorset on Thursday and back to London on Saturday.
Both the Weymouth and the Dorchester based people gathered together for evening meals and/or drinks when time and logistics allowed.
And the walks seemed to have been enjoyed by all.
From my viewpoint therefore, a very good trip.
See you on another one, T
Feedback (& photos) for the South West Coast Path walks for their walk-pages would be helpful.
