I have been eyeing this short walk for a
spell….as I have always thought Brompton Cemetery would make an interesting
spot for an evening walk….The route has not been done before as it is a bit
short in original formulation, but I think we could explore an extension down
to the Thames via Imperial Wharf and along the Thames Path to Hammersmith,
passing along the way: the Hurlingham Club, Fulham Palace and various wharfs
and new developments…a mixed bag I guess….The Blue Anchor on the riverbank in Hammersmith looks a good spot for post walk refreshies and meal for those who wish….

12 assembled outside the West Brompton tube station at roughly the appointed time and another caught-up with us later along the Thames, making for n=13-explorers on this new route. Most agreed that Brompton Cemetery was very atmospheric indeed with a large number of interesting monuments. It did not take long for us to find the Thames Path near Chelsea Harbor and we all found the refurbished Lot Road Power Station a marvel. The route along the Thames involved one long diversion thanks to the Tideway Project and the Hurlingham Club...but did become very pretty on the approach to Hammersmith in the fading light. Most had drinks and/or food in a very busy Blue Anchor...starting outside and eventually moving inside when some tables cleared....gone are those balmy nights of early summer.....
