Verdi wrote Il trovatore hot on the heels of Rigoletto, and its premiere came a scant two months before that of La traviata. But Il trovatore, while no less popular than its neighbours, is quite different. Come and find out more. Tickets from £9. To book, please click here.
Eating venues in Covent Garden are likely to be busy. I plan to book a table. If you wish to attend pre-opera F&B and have not told Lucilla you are coming to the opera, please email swcsocialATgooglemailDOTcom and reserve a place by Jan 25 latest. (It is likely to be a reasonably priced restaurant nearby, e.g. Zizzi).

several have booked
This performance is being broadcast to selected Curzon and Odeon cinemas throughout London and its suburbs. I'm going to Kingston upon Thames for £15. I f you can't get to the ROH this is the next best thing with great close ups and back stage interviews. Watch out for the Metropolitan opera from New York. These are even better.
Marion: there are still some affordable tickets left at ROH when I looked yesterday. Lucilla
