N=12 emerged from the train at Leigh and set off under w=sunny-skies-with-rapidly-rising-temperatures-and-humidity. 11 followed the main route while one took the shortcut avoiding the pubs and proceeded at a slow pace, collecting blackberries along the way and being overtaken by the main walkers at Speldhurst. Most if not all had picnics and some had drinks in the pubs. If anyone had a pub lunch they might like to report back.. The All Souls Chapel near Poundsbridge is a good picnic spot with benches in its very pleasant and peaceful churchyard. This is a very lovely walk but today I felt the weather was too hot to enjoy it.
