Length: 16¼ km (10.1 miles); see † below for a longer walk. Toughness: 1/10
10:28 Cambridge North train from Liverpool Street (Tottenham Hale 10:41), arriving Broxbourne at 10:53. You can use Oyster PAYG or contactless, but Broxbourne is outside the numbered TfL zones and a paper ticket might be better value.
Greater Anglia trains depart from Cheshunt to Liverpool Street via Tottenham Hale at xx:20 & xx:51 (fast) and xx:29 & xx:59 (slow). There are also London Overground trains via Seven Sisters at xx:00 & xx:30. [Cheshunt is in TfL Zone 8; a Freedom Pass is only valid on the Overgrounds.]
This walk is really a neglected option from the Cheshunt to Broxbourne walk (#311) which has been tweaked and given its own SWC number. Much of it is through the extensive wetland landscape of River Lee Country Park, with a new stretch through Cornmill Meadows into the town of Waltham Abbey and the opportunity to admire its fine Norman church.
The town's pubs didn't all survive the pandemic but I see that the Crown reopened in 2023. Since that was the suggested lunch pub for #311, I'd be inclined to give it a try. If that doesn't appeal there are several more pubs and cafés around Market Square and Sun Street, with the Abbey Gardens available for picnickers. On the return route it's worth popping into the Brew Street Kitchen and Bar in the Lee Valley White Water Centre, either for some mid-afternoon refreshment or simply to watch the spectacle.
† For a longer walk of 19¾ km (12.3 miles) you could do the full Circular Walk back to Broxbourne. This has four Greater Anglia trains an hour (ie. not the Overgrounds), departing four minutes before the times at Cheshunt.
You'll need to bring the directions from the L=swc.427.a page. See the walk document for more details, including tea places at Cheshunt and Broxbourne.

N=10 A mix of w=cloud-sun-and-breeze After a while, they managed to shake Mr Tiger off and, where the out and back gps routes crossed, he chose the wrong one didn’t he. This wasn’t all bad news however. He achieved a heightened smugness quotient by getting to Waltham Abbey first.
The Crown there has a limited sandwich- only menu Sundays but it sufficed.
At least two finished here heading for the Overground. We had a look in the Abbey, round its grounds and along the High Street, keeping an eye out for possible future pubs.
The route continued the same way Mr Tiger had just come, stopping for a while to watch white water antics. Here Mr Tiger parted company, not wishing to replicate all of his morning route. His shorter route to Cheshunt took him past the Giants Chair. There were a lot of goose families dotted along the path, with their little ones in tow, something the others will be very jealous to hear about
