A small herd of deer has been reintroduced last month, after a four year absence. Two viewing areas exist in the Flower Garden area. For details, read here: https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/south-london/deer-return-to-greenwich-park-for-the-first-time-after-a-four-year-absence/
Just a select group of 3 met at the appointed place and time. Formalities were not required and after providing a generous grace period for any late arrivals we set off at a leisurely pace enjoying the views and other points of interest encountered on this walk. We admired the Cutty Sark, the Royal Naval College, the Queen's House, the Observatory, Prime Meridian and Queen Caroline's Bath among other things..... We also paid a visit to the small herd of newly introduced fallow deer who obliged us by wandering around quite near the viewing point -- a nice family unit with some young ones. We also marveled at a group of swifts soaring gracefully through the skies. While admiring the view from the observatory, a late starter caught up with us, making for a group of n=4 in total. After the walk, we decided to head to the Old Brewery for drinks and a meal. A very enjoyable and relaxing night out in w=cloudy-but-dry conditions. The only shower encountered was while we were in the pub!
