As the outward and return legs of this walk run almost parallel and 7.8 miles may seem a tad short, it’s easily possible to improvise an extra mile or two before lunch without going as far as Shortcut 2 (12.2 miles)

N=12 on a w=hot-sunny day. What can you say? Pleasant walk, well chosen, considering the weather. At the decision point, 3 took S-word 1, arriving at The Chequers ahead of the others. Mr Tiger didn’t realise this's had propelled him into Cider Heaven at the Chequers . The others didn’t take all that long to get there, either, having taken an unofficial S-word, taking them past an “interesting church” (heard that before).
A pint of scrumpy and a half of “Happy Daze“ later, he was off, Mr Tiger belatedly remembering the dodgy-if-intoxicated stile (which he negotiated successfully)).
And so on to St Margaret’s, where a problem with.the trains meant an extended stay at the Jolly Fisherman ‘sigh’
(Mr Tiger would not like to reveal how much alcohol he consumed there. Let’s just say it was “more than the recommended daily amount “
Trains back on time .The 16:17 was caught. Grand day out.
In Wareside, most picnicked, one had soup.
