Saturday Walk - Shoreham Circular (figure of eight)

Length12.4 miles / 20 km t=swc.289. 6 out of 10. Various shortcuts are available.

This walk consists of two loops around the attractive Kent village of Shoreham, nestling in the valley carved out of the North Downs by the River Darent. There is a good mix of woodland and open countryside with some fine views from the steep-sided hills overlooking the valley, interspersed with easier stretches along the valley floor.

Trains: Get the 1008 from London Bridge, changing at Swanley, arr 1031 dep 1036 (platform 2), arriving Shoreham 1045. This is the direct train leaving Blackfriars 0946 via Elephant and Castle. a London Freedom Pass is valid as far as Swanley (in TfL Zone 8) which is a cheaper ticket than boundary zone 6.

LunchThere are lots of options for a pub lunch in Shoreham. Picnickers can find benches in the churchyard, behind the Village Hall, or a short distance along the river bank.

Tea: As well as the pubs, there's a couple of tea rooms on the High Street.

Just to check if this is the only regular SAT walk for this week. No pressures

No, another is coming. I understand. In the palace things happen slowly (las cosas del palacio van despacio), as the Spanish say….
