The critically acclaimed Sculpture in the City is an annual exhibition showcasing contemporary works by internationally renowned artists in the confines of the City of London, on streets, in squares or on buildings.
2025/26 sees the fourteenth incarnation of this popular attraction, displaying 11 artworks ranging considerably in scale – from large steel- or rock-works to small bronze plaques, thoughtfully placed between iconic architectural landmarks such as the Gherkin (30 St. Mary Axe), the Walkie-Talkie (20 Fenchurch Street), the Lloyd’s-Building (aka the Inside-Out Building, at 12 Leadenhall Street), the Scalpel (Lime Street) and the Cheesegrater (the Leadenhall Building). Wander the City's public spaces and stumble upon world-class public art, on an urban canvas recognised across the globe.

Nine walkers tonight, including 1 family member of a regular over from the Continent, forming one of the more interested, inquisitive and chatty groups this route has experienced so far. Meaning we were a slow group: 90 minutes for 2.5 km, probably the slowest ever recorded SWC walk.
The City was heaving with people in loud and boisterous mood (has bonus season been moved to August?) and that unfortunately did not change even in Leadenhall Market, the end point and food and drink destination.
We shunned the ground floor establishments due to exposure to the noise but found a table for 9 at a tapas bar on the first floor.
To there being met by a musician singing to an acoustic guitar, but through an amplifier. In a place with high ceilings, partly tiled walls and no sound absorbers!
She finished at 9, as some of us had bet on, and we could continue our previous conversations.
A very good evening out. Fantastic company and some nice artworks were involved as well.
