This is the only opera named after a moor in Scotland. ( Lammermuir, the lambs' moor.)The Southern Upland Way traverses it.

If anyone is interested in Semele there are only 2 performances in London. I’m going on Thursday and have booked a picnic table for two taking my own food if anyone wants to do the same. Otherwise Waterperry opera have more performances at their house and gardens
Like previous years, our annual OHP outing was a real treat.. N=10 met at the Dutch Garden for picnic. We were joined by another who came just for picnic and catching up with everyone. Snacks, fruits and drinks were shared, special thanks to one walker who brought home made houmous for the occasion.
According to our infamous record keeper, the club’s last outing to see Lucia was at the ENO back in March 2008. Long time passing, but some still have vivid memories….
But this one was different. The theatre was small compared to the vast Coliseum. Every seat had good views of the stage, though simple, lent to ultimate intimacy. The opera was excellent and singing wonderful, we were all thoroughly enjoyed it. We are already looking forward to our return next year.
Here are some reviews from our very own critics
“ I'd heard of the mad scene, but wow, what a high pitch she got to!”
“Opera was very 'Italian', She (Lucia) had such an amazing range.”
“The music is a bit formulaic - rumpty-tum tunes (the mad scene excepted). I don’t think Donizetti has Verdi’s gift for summoning up the mood through the music”
“A great atmosphere. I love the venue.”
“an absolutely delightful evening, Fabulous voices and production”
“Roll on next summer”.
n=11 if including the picnicker only walker
