This variation of the Angel to Limehouse walk always makes for a nice winter evening walk, along the Regent canal with less traffic than usual. There is usually plenty of light to see the way forward….Refreshments can be had mid-route at the very interesting Palm Tree in Mile End (cash only) and at the end at the Grapes or further along into Canary Wharf where there are a number of chain establishments….

Four assembled at the meeting point within the customary 5 minutes grace of the planned start time. As all were regulars, there was no need for formalities and we set of on a w=cold-clear-night. The canal was atmospheric as usual in the dark..... I did not notice the shark... but we did spot a dog swimming in the canal....with its owner on the pathway helping it out. Given further sightings of wet paw prints further along -- clearly this was a regular activity of the pair.... We marveled at the progress being made at converting the old gas storage units into flats.... then diverted into Victoria Park to stargaze and spotted Venus, Jupiter and Mars -- Saturn and Mercury has already dropped below the horizon -- BUT for those interested tonight FRIDAY is a big night to see the whole planetary parade between sunset and 6:30pm. We stepped back in time through the portal of the Palm Tree door and all enjoyed a drink during which n=5 joined us... After our drinks on we went and were lucky to get a table at the Grapes where all had some food, a drink or both....Leaving the Grapes, we parted company -- some to Limehouse, one to Westferry and 2 others to continue walking to Deptford... A fun night!
