Saturday Walk - Tring to Wendover

LENGTH 21km (13 miles)
TOUGHNESS 6/10
TRAINS. LONDON EUSTON 09.54 Arrive TRING 10.52
Return from WENDOVER hourly at .54 hours
Two singles required as start and finish are on different lines. (Though both are now directly run by HM Government)
You can omit the third reservoir and save 1km (Plums available this way)
A further shortcut is possible by continuing along the canal into Wendover after lunch instead of climbing steeply up to the Go Ape play area and cafe.
Indeed you could shorten the walk by several more miles by avoiding lunch entirely and remaining on the canal path.
Buses back to Tring are hourly or less from the main road in Aston Clinton.
LUNCH
TEA. In Wendover we nearly always end up in the Shoulder of Mutton by the station, or at Rumsey’s Choclaterie  but last time we loved our visit to the atmospheric Red Lion Hotel.

N=8 after a delayed start due to Northern Line problems. The weather was w=sultry-partly-cloudy-unseasonably-warm.
Decoherence occurred at an early stage.
An unusual feature of trains at Wendover on Saturdays is that there are two an hour from London but only one an hour on the return journey. Once again, make it make sense!

@gouldman: The Wendover train schedule isn't that unusual. The Saturday service is basically hourly but there are three or four extra trains up to London in the morning and a similar number back in the late afternoon / early evening, no doubt to cater for those on shopping expeditions and the like.
