A limited no of INSPIRE tickets (at reduced price of £24) for those who otherwise would not be able to attend the performance. Booking opens on 10th April at 10am for INSPIRE tickets. They tend to go very fast.

If you are over 65, you can apply for free tickets for performances on specific dates (sadly not on 21 June).

Other discounted tickets also available if you meet criteria. Please check the OHP website for detail.

Lastly, there are a very limited number of last minute Monday Rush tickets (£40) available for booking on 17 June at 12pm for the June 21 performance.

The evening started off with a picnic in the Dutch Garden just behind the opera marquee. Champagne, wine, nibbles, strawberries, home made cherry pie, home grown cherries, you named it, we had it, were enjoyed by all in a glorious summer evening. N=13.

The staging of the opera was innovative, with the orchestra sandwiched between two segments of the stage. Some of us did wonder how the conductor communicated with singers when their backs were facing each other.(?).

The cast was excellent, a young rising star from La Scala playing Figaro. The opera had modern twists too, full of humour and fun, at one point, the singer who played the disguised Count and the conductor swopped places! The orchestra played on. Who needs conductor anyway? ...

The evening became a bit chilly with cool wind later on. Some of us secured free blankets to keep us warm - a very thoughtful touch from the venue.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening for all.

Bye Bye OHP, the fond memory will carry us through the darkest winter months. See you again next summer.

Some of us did wonder how the conductor communicated with singers when their backs were facing each other: not just for this production, there is a video camera pointing at the conductor feeding two large screens on the back walls of the theatre at the left and right sides.
