Evening Walk: Hayes Circular
Distance: Approximately 5 or 6 miles or 9 or 10 km for those more metrically minded
Difficulty: 1 out of 10
Meet: 18:10 Southeastern Hayes bound train from London Charing Cross (18:19 London Bridge)
Return: Return trains every 15 minutes to London Bridge and Charing Cross until about 23:00
This short walk crosses three traditional commons historically used for supplying wood and follows part of the River Ravensbourne which joins the Thames at Deptford….It is possible to shorten the walk a bit by cutting out the final loop around Keston Common if we run short on time….Given its proximity to London, it makes for a nice summer evening walk with a rural feel….
There are two pubs on the edge of Hayes Common for refreshments…..plus one back in Hayes near the station….so we shall not perish from thirst….
More information about the route can be found here.
Enjoy the walk!

Weather looks iffy. However a couple of us plan to go.
5# we're at Hayes Station, and it was a lovely evening for walking the five miles or so. There was no rain as was forecasted. This is such a beautiful wooded walk across the commons. Caeser wasn't at his well, however probably never was.As the Greyhound was full of quizzers, we went to the Fox across the road.Food seemed good, although I just had chips with rosemary.Even though no one was called rosemary. And I forgot to pay for my coke, so if anyone did by default make sure I pay.
We just got back before dark, and all had a beer or cider in the Real Ale Way opposite the station. The trains were delayed returning to London, as they had been going out.
Well worth the journey though.
So, n=5 in w=cloudy-but-mostly-dry conditions.
