Sunday walk 1 Chilterns views

Saunderton Circular via Bledlow Book 2 Walk 2

A favourite walk, with a favourite pub thrown in. There are many fine views out over the valley and plain. Largely gentle but there are one or two steep bits.

Trains back at xx:50 from platform 2  (If you just miss it, the xx:54 (Platform 1) takes you to Princes Risborough where you can change for London).
Lunch: The Lions of Bledlow: 01844 343345 nice choice of beers, extensive menu.
Bledlow's Lyde Garden is worth a quick visit and is a possible picnic place. The entrance is near the church.
Tea: The Golden Cross is handy for Saunderton station. A welcoming family pub - they do cakes and puddings. It’s on the main road, just past the station turn-in.
Or possibly the earlier Boot 01494 481499

Is anyone planning on doing this particular walk tomorrow?

13 of us decided to explore the excellent Saunderton via Bledlow circular on this perfect summer’s day of buttercup and cow parsley mania. Three went off to do their own thing but were later spotted picnicking in the beautiful mini-gorge of Lyde Garden, amongst the gunnera and dragon flies. Most others had a palatable lunch in the Lion pub garden, albeit with a less palatable service. The afternoon brought wildlife interest, with a young deer unfazed by our presence, though a hare huddled by the side of the path seemed less well. Most retired to the Golden Cross near the station for a late afternoon tea.
