Length : 17km (10.6 miles).
Difficulty 4 out of 10
This is a gentle very pleasant Chilterns walk, with lots of fine beech woods.
Trains: Take the 10.40 train from Marylebone arriving at Little Kimble 11.39. The late start is due to a gap in the train service between 9.10 and 10.40 meaning Railcards could not be used on the earlier train.
Return trains from Saunderton are at 15.32, 15.47 (change at Princes Risborough), 16.15, 17.02, 17.49.
Buy a return to Little Kimble.
Lunch: Sadly, The Pink and Lily and the Whip Inn have closed.. For those wanting a pub lunch, the Plough Lower Cadsden, just 3 km from the start of the walk, might be feasible due to the late start - food served noon - 2pm. Otherwise bring a picnic.
Tea: The Golden Cross Wycombe Road, Saunderton, HP14 4HU (tel 01494 565974) is the suggested tea stop.

N=19 off the train on a w=cloudy-morning-with-the-sun-breaking-through-around-lunch-time. There are lots of lovely woods with tall trees on this walk and we saw a great variety of fungi including some very large puffballs. The group fragmented a bit with some being led astray by rogue gps arrows. Nobody went to the Plough in Cadsden and there is no obvious picnic spot along the route so people stopped in various places, some using benches outside the former lunch pub, others sitting among trees or on fallen tree trunks. Hawthorn trees were heavily laden with berries and there was an abundance of windfall apples. There are some strenuous climbs on the walk and the difficulty was deemed to merit 5 out of ten. Eight fast walkers caught the 16.15 train back to London . The slower group caught the 17.05 along with some who'd had time for a drink in the Cross pub. A lovely walk.
