Length: 12 km (7.5 miles). Toughness: 2/10
10:31 Sevenoaks train from Charing Cross (Waterloo East 10:34, London Bridge 10:40, Lewisham 10:49, etc), arriving Petts Wood (TfL Zone 5) at 11:08.
There are alternative services via other stations in south London: the 10:27 Orpington train from Victoria arrives at 11:04 and the 10:13 Thameslink train from Blackfriars at 10:56. Note that the walk starts from Station Square on the east side, so if you arrive on an earlier train (or by car) don't hang around by the exit onto West Approach.
Trains back are at xx:11 & xx:41 to Charing Cross, xx:18 & xx:48 to Blackfriars, xx:24 & xx:54 to Victoria.
This is billed as an easy walk through woodland and parkland in south-east London, with traces of the large estates they were once part of. Feedback after one winter posting some years ago said “very little mud” but after the recent spell of wet weather don't be surprised if some stretches are slithery (or worse).
You should reach the Bull's Head in Chislehurst just before 1pm; the website of this Young's pub says "book or walk in" for their Sunday roast, but as always it would be advisable to call ahead if you want to be sure of a table. Unless you take the optional extension for a guided tour of Chislehurst Caves the afternoon leg should only take an hour, with more refreshment places at the end if you need further sustenance.
Please bring the directions from the L=swc.309 page.

Is anyone doing this walk ? .. attracted by the later start and smaller mileage 😊
@anon: If you're new to these walks, see the FAQ page. As a rule people don't announce whether they're coming on a particular walk. Who knows what the weather will be like next weekend? Many just decide at the last minute.
