5 walkers met on time, with 1 other known to be on the way. We set off regardless to beat the (based on past experience) strict closing times in Bishop's Park, and 'lost' one of the 5 when crossing the Putney Bridge Approach Road (the Thames Path has a part closure in the area due to a drydock refurbishment or somesuch). The 'lost' walker bumped into delayed walker n=6 though and we were soon all united.
The path under the riverside stand was closed though, despite FFC having bars and pubs in the stand open for a beam-back of their League Cup game at Newcastle; strange that. That gave the non-football afficionados a chance to walk along three sides of the ground, including the (probably) oldest surviving top league stand.
Back along the river, it was ultra-low tide and a fierce wind blew (from behind), with some fluffy clouds reflecting the urban lights, quite picturesque, all in.
Blue plaques were studied, wisterias admired, and the Michelin Star restaurant en route shunned.
We ended up in The Hound (same as last year), a very well-run (chain-free?) pub in the Old Police Station on Chiswick High. The Fulhamite in the group convinced the staff to change the channel in our side room to Sky Sports and everyone was happy (at least until injury time). A fine evening out. w=dry
