Christmas Party

Come and join us to celebrate this festive season, to thank our web master,  walk posters and trip organisers for their dedication and hard work, to catch-up with friends, fellow walkers, and above all, to have a great time!

This year’s Christmas Party will be held at lower ground floor, Silver Cross, 33 Whitehall, SW1A 2BS from 6pm.  It is close to Trafalgar Square and within walking distance to London Underground and train stations.

Some nibbles will be provided by SWC.  If you wish to have a feast, see menu here.

Enjoy the party!

Thank you all for coming last night. It was fantastic to see so many of you having a great time. Things were clearly too good, because at some point I managed to lose my wallet. Luckily, an eagle-eyed walker spotted it before I ended up begging for mince pies on the street. Hero status officially awarded.

I didn’t manage a proper headcount. Someone confidently whispered into my ears that there were 70 of us, so I’m officially recording it as n=50_plus… definitely plus.”

All that is left is for me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, to raise a toast to the SWC, may our legs stay strong, our paths stay dry, and our pints stay full next year!

Walk maintainers
Special thanks to Marcus who has given 25 years of service particularly keeping the 53 Book 1 walks up to date, setting a very high standard. And thanks also to those who have agreed to take on this work from Marcus. I believe here are one or two groups of walks that need a volunteer

Book 2 walks maintainers David, Walker, Sylvia & Jane

Walk Authors there are many, but Thomas, Sean, David (Cooke) & Mike (Powell) have all added several new walks in the past year. Special mention to Thomas for lots of new short ones suitable for evening walks, and some innovative postings (e.g. Stonehenge night walk on the summer solstice). We now have 449 additional full walks and 68 Short walks
