Evening Walk: Barnes Bridge to Richmond along the Thames Path

Evening walk: Barnes Bridge to Richmond along the Thames Path (map-led)

Distance:          Approximately 5 miles/8 km

Difficulty:         1 out of 10

Train:               18:22 train from London Waterloo towards Weybridge, arriving Barnes Bridge (not Barnes) at 18:45

This will be a map-led (hardly necessary) walk along the Thames Path from Barnes Bridge to Richmond which I do not think we have explored before on an evening walk. I have chosen it because I noticed that Chiswick will be having Fireworks on Thursday evening and I thought there might be a chance of seeing some of the display along this stretch of the Thames.

Plenty of food and beverage options in Richmond upon arrival

n=7 brave souls met in the dark at Barnes Bridge to venture where no SWC evening walk has gone before. Two hours later, all arrived safely in Richmond, enjoying along the way, some fireworks (nicely reflected on the smooth Thames), a three-quarter moon (accompanied by Jupiter), atmospheric river mist and great reflections. Not as well enjoyed were the persistent landings at Heathrow!

On arrival in Richmond, all went to the White Cross for drinks and/or food. All in all, the experiment was a success and I think all thought it worked well as an evening walk....

A very enjoyable and social evening!
