Third Walk

SWC Walk - Wimbledon to Barnes Bridge
Length: 17.9 km (11.1 miles).
Toughness: 1/10

Catch the 9:42 from London Waterloo arrives Wimbledon station 9:58. Buy a zone 1-3 day travelcard (zone 1-4 if extending the walk to Richmond). Will meet at the main station entrance for a prompt 10:05 departure.

After lunch a straightforward walk along the Thames Path on the south side to Barnes Bridge, with various tea options in Barnes village. (Will be taking the opportunity to check the directions from Wimbledon to Putney Bridge - this section may possibly be published as a Short Walk.)

Longer options:
  • Continue along the Thames Path to finish at Kew Bridge station: 21.6km (13.4miles).
  • Continue further to Richmond: 26.4km (16.4 miles).

n=7 on this walk on w=a-clear-sunny-day, most were new to SWC. We stopped for coffee by Roehampton Gate mid morning. Problem with the directions after Roehampton Gate (Beverley Brook walk exits through the gate and alongside the brick wall outside the park), thus I became separated from the group for the rest of the day - I was quitting at Putney anyway.
