Start: 6:30 PM Vauxhall Tube Station
Finish: Tower Bridge or London Bridge
Distance: About 6.5 km/4.0 miles
Remember remember the 5th of November....with Guy Fawkes night approaching and with the nights drawing in early after the end of British Sumer Time, this short Thames Path walk through Central London which passes by the main events associated with Guy Fawkes and the Gun Powder Plot seemed appropriate.....In addition to the Guy Fawkes associations, this walk will allow a further exploration of The Illuminated River from the South Bank and going West to East (previously examined from the North Bank going East to West).
This will be "map-led" -- though a map is not really required. From the Vauxhall Tube Station we will follow the South Bank Thames Path eastwards (i.e. river on your left) to the Millennium Bridge where we will cross and turn right to follow the North Bank Thames Path to the Tower.....
Post walk refreshies can be had at a number of establishments around St. Katherine's Dock or back across the river near London Bridge.

I'm intending to travel to Westminster tube station, check for unattended barrels, stroll across Westminster Bridge and join at the London Eye
7 congregated outside the "main" Vauxhaul station near the train and buses. After a quick check of the other obvious tube exits, we set off under w=cold-crisp-clear-and-dark-skies (sorry if we left anyone behind). We were quickly caught by 2 one regular and one relative newcomer who had been on part 1 of the illuminated river walk. We stopped at Westminster Bridge and examined the scene of the crime, the arrest and execution....A bit further on, we found the gun powder investigator with one other, making for n=11 in total. A bit further on still, one of the party (not me) suggested we indulge in some hot drinks being offered along the South Bank which proved a popular suggestion. With drinks in hand, we continued along a lively (but not crowded) South Bank admiring the subtle colored lighting of the bridges, some rather more vibrant trees and a mysterious new art installation. We crossed the river at the Millenium Bridge, walked around the Tower where the torture took place and most carried on to St. Katherine's dock where we enjoyed a meal upstairs in the restaurant at the Dickens....After dinner, on the way back to LBG, some commented that the subtle lighting of London Bridge was very nice indeed....A most enjoyable evening out with London landmarks looking magnificent against the dark, crisp night sky.
