Here is a link to directions for the Greensand Way

However the directions are in the reverse direction to that planned on Wednesday
13 off the posted train set off in w=calm-sunny conditions - a glorious spring day with primroses, daffodils, celandines, bumble bees and a bright yellow brimstone butterfly as well as clouds of midges in pockets of sunlight and birdsong throughout the woods. The group set off apace and I did not see the frontrunners again. They broke with tradition by eschewing the churchyard in Thursley as a lunch stop and powering on to the NT tearoom instead. Having paused to take off some layers at the start, I was at the back and enjoyed solitude until I caught up with three who had taken a wrong turn at some point. We joined a solitary picnicker in the churchyard and continued together after lunch until the Devil's Punchbowl where four split off to take a shortcut to the pub and I headed for the NT tearoom for coffee and cake before the last stretch of the walk through woods in dappled afternoon sunshine with no sound but birdsong. Blissful.
Two were encountered after Thursley doing the route in reverse making for n=17 in total.
Correction n=15 in total
As one of the two walkers, who opted to do the walk in reverse, it was interesting to see how spread out everyone was on the main walk (perhaps half an hour between the pacesetters and the back markers). By starting at Haslemere, we had the benefit of the magnificent view from Gibbet Hill opening up dramatically in front of us, as we reached the top. The inconvenience of an hourly train service from Witley paled into insignificance, all things considered. We used the Surrey CC walk notes to navigate, but needed GPS at times.
