Lunch
During the afternoon we pass through
on a public footpath which passes a cafe in what was the former stables. Entry to the cafe is free to all, though if you want to leave the footpath and explore the gardens, you’d need to pay an entrance fee ( or be an NT member)
Westerham has several pubs and cafes and a Co-op for takeaway supplies

Make sure you get the train for Dover Priory (1004/07/12) not the slow train to Sevenoaks leaving three minutes earlier!
N=17 at the station. A w=sunny-breezy day.
By the time Knole Park was reached, your correspondent was trailing and didn’t see any others till Westerham.
Plenty of deer in the park. Then after a life-threatening dash across the Sevenoaks bypass, plenty of flowering wild garlic and yellow archangel along the Riverhill footpath. On through sheep fields with plenty of little lambies. Ironc signs urging people to “keep to the footpath “ Ironic because the footpaths through these fields are not obvious. They were eventually traversed.
Mr Tiger had a clever plan to take an s-word avoiding the Ide Hill climb. A plan that would have worked perfectly if he’d taken the right road (frowny face). So over the top it was. A brief stop at the Cock inn ensued. The others had mainly picnicked though some ventured in and one had a curry. (This was an hour previous).
Mr Tiger reached the Westerham bus stop at 17:23, just in time for the 17:24 . 2 others got the same bus, having downed 2 pints each in the Kings Arms (Just saying)
At Hayes we didn’t expect any others ti still be in the Real Ale Way but there they were, about 6 of them, carousing and making merry.
A kindly benefactor bought Mr Tiger a drink - he settled for a modest half of Kentish Kiss cider, not realising it was pink
Then home on the train.
A good walk with great views but feels longer than 11.6 miles and a long way to lunch. Apparently, an 18th walker intersected the route but I didn’t understand that bit.
Forgot to mention Emmets Gardens said to be good with Rododendrons Azaleas and tulips in flower. (I took an accidental long-cut, that bypassed the gardens).
As I understand it walker #18 started from Westerham and reached Ide Hill by a circular route, then joined some of the group for the walk back and others in the Kings Arms Westerham, and got the 1655
