n=14 emerged from the train at East Grinstead and set off in light intermittent drizzle which became rain later in the morning but didn't affect us too much as we walked through many lovely woods full of bluebells and with emerging leaf cover. A sharp eyed walker identified a purple orchid camouflaged among the bluebells on our path in one wood and a few more nearby. Wood anemones and wild garlic were also in bloom. Paths were mainly firm but feet were drenched by wet grass which managed to permeate most boots. The GPS track for this walk is complicated having several possible extensions and shortcuts undifferentiated by colour. However, we found our way to Forest Row without too much trouble, omitting the circuit of the reservoir. At least 2 went for a pub lunch, one intending to take a bus afterwards. 7 picnicked at the church, 3 respectfully sitting on a bench outside, 4 taking advantage of tables and chairs at the back of the church before joining others in the Swan pub for a drink. When we emerged the sun had come out and we had very pleasant weather in the afternoon w=drizzle-and-rain-giving-way-to-blue-sky-and-sunshine. 9 got to East Grinstead around 3.45pm. 3 went to the station, 6 entered the subterranean world of The Engine Room Bar where real ales, craft beers and rhubarb infused cider were enjoyed before emerging into rain and catching the 17.06 back to London.
