The idea is to have a trip to Margate to visit the Carl Freedman Gallery for the exhibition curated by Tracy Emin (approx 30 mins). The gallery is 12 minutes from the station and we can have early entry around 1130. The Turner Contempary is then a 9 minute walk away for the Bridget Riley exhibition (approx 60 mins). Both are free entry. Lunch at the gallery around 1pm with a departure around 1.40pm for Ramsgate with the option to return from Broadstairs. Ramsgate sea front is approx 8 miles, with the station 1 mile further on.
Trains: The 0940 from Margate train St Pancras arrives 1109 for the gallery at 1130. The 0940 from Victoria arrives 1122, meet at the Gallery. Advance single tickets are available.
There are a number of trains back from Ramsgate with the fastest (by 30 minutes) being at 1802 and 1902.
For High Speed from St Pancras, you need a return to Margate and for trains from Victoria, a return to Ramsgate. Ticketing is a bit complicated if buying returns. For HS with a railcard, there is a Super Off Peak return for £29.10 valid for Ramsgate return on any train. From Victoria, the Super Off Peak fare is £23.30 for all trains going via Herne Bay. This fare is cheaper than from boundary zone 6. There is a suggestion that you need to use SouthEastern ticket machines (located on the mezzanine departure point) to get these fares but they are also available on-line.
Lunch; At the Turner Contempary or later at Botany bay.
Tea: The Royal Victoria Pavillion Weatherspoons Ramesgate. From there it is around 25 minutes to the station.

I was thinking of going to the Tracey Emin exhibition and this sounds like a great idea
Both expos look fab! If they were in London, each would cost £20 to go in, easily offset the train fare - plus some sea air. What not to like?!
Is it possible to post this in Feb when it is wet, muddy and unbearable?
