Length: 22.4 km (14.5 miles) 5 out of 10
Starts in gentle countryside, with the South Downs a thin line on the horizon, then via some steep hills and hidden valleys to finish on the crest of the South Downs with a panoramic view.
After lunch, there is an option to reduce the walk by 1.5 miles, by taking the afternoon route of the Pulborough to Amberly walk
Trains: Get the 0935 Bognor Regis train from Victoria (Clapham 0942, East Croydon 0953) arriving Billingshurst 1045. Return trains from Amberley 1650, 1717, 1817, 1917, 2017. Buy an Amberley return. At the time of writing, there are some advance tickets available.
Lunch: Rising Sun, Nutbourne (01798 812191) 9.3 km (5.8 miles) into the walk. With a cosy interior and a pleasant garden. It offers a varied menu with good walker-sized portions from 12pm to 2.30pm
Tea: The Bridge Inn by the station

Link button in the top right of thiss post is to walk 8 Pulborough rather than walk 9 Billingshurst.
Now corrected by removing the link to the alternative afternoon route. Thanks for the feedback.
On a lovely w=sunny day,got off the train, joined by 3 more during lunch, giving n=11 in total. A lovely village pub but poor picnic spot. We all enjoyed the walk. On reaching the South Downs way we had large numbers on a 100k walk, thankfully going in the opposite direction. Some went straight to the train, some a quick drink a few a bit longer to enjoy the cooling summer evening.
