Meet: 6:30 PM outside the Jubilee Line exit on the DLR side.
Duration: 2ish hours....
Difficulty: Easy, generally well-lit pavements throughout.
The Canary Wharf Winter Lights Festival is an annual festival of light installations spread around the Canary Wharf Estate. This year's festival will showcase 13 new temporary installations and 6 of Canary Wharf's permanent collection. There will also be pop-up food and drink venues..... The Festival is just opening on Wednesday -- so the hope is that it will not be too crowded this week -- particularly with the cold temperatures... More information on the installations can be found in the Winter Lights Brochure.
Note: This walk does not have a GPS file or written instructions -- but we will generally aim to start/finish at the Jubilee Line exit (DLR side) and follow the map of the installations. If anyone misses our departure, we will visit installations A, B and C, then pick-up the new numbered ones at Westferry Circus and follow them back across Canary Wharf.
Post walk refreshments can be had a variety of hostelries....
Wrap up warm and enjoy the show!

A whopping n=14 I think after including the late arrivals who joined us in route, including one special guest relative of a regular, braved a w=very-cold-and-clear night to be among the first to explore the marvels of the Winter Lights Festival. As hoped, it was not too crowded so we were able to take our time and admire the installations without feeling over crowded. One installation suffered from some technical difficulties -- but when those of us went to eat after the walk, it was working and is really fabulous. Although there were fewer installations than years past, most agreed that they were more interesting and engaging this year. Oddly enough, towards the end of the route, no one was tempted by the outdoor street food -- so after bidding adieu to a few at the Tube, most trekked over to the Pilgrim's Pizza who were not as friendly as in years past -- but did manage to find a table for 10 of us. A fun night! For those who missed out -- definitely recommend trying to catch the Festival!
