Christmas Party at Silver Cross at 6pm

Come and join us to celebrate another year of the walking club, to thank our webmaster, walk posters and trip organisers for their hard work,  to catch up with friends and fellow walkers.

This year we are trying a new pub for our Christmas party, Silver Cross, at 33 Whitehall, London SW1A 2BS, a short walk from Trafalgar Square.  You can find the pub here.

We have a large section of the basement reserved for our exclusive use.  You need to purchase your F&B upstairs.  There will be some nibbles provided by the club.

The pub serves food till 10pm.  For menu, click here.

The venue has a long and interest history.  First opened as a licensed pub in 1674,  it is now a Greene King property.  A BBC program in 1999 discovered that Silver Cross was granted a legal licence as a brothel by King Charles I but the licence was never revoked.  It is said to be the only legal brothel (though not used as such) in the UK and haunted.

Sadly I won't make it because I have to go to work early the next day. But I like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sadly, the cold I've had since Friday is dragging on, so I'd best stay at home.

Have a good time!

Just to mention that most agreed that Lucilla's choice for the venue was excellent, a central London location in the cosy basement of the Silver Cross.
No expense spared here, Christmas decorations, crackers and Santa hats 🎅 (which were worn by those with the more average head size).
We think about #50 turned up with a few good Christmas pullovers on show. Great company with some nice food served during the evening.
John L made his customary speech when our Webmaster, Walk authors (including our Book 1 stalwart in absentia) and posters were thanked and applauded for their efforts.
A real Christmassy feel to the evening.
