A walk, somewhere, ... maybe

Sorry, I left it to late to choose a walk.

Anyone hoping to join a walk using a discount card logged into their phone should check that it’s still available on their Railcard app display. Mine had been wiped off because I hadn’t used it. You will need to ring customer service where the helpful call centre in Bombay will guide you through the process which involved grinding the original confirmation email which has a code. Downloading this into your app will bring the card back on your device. Better still renew your card well in advance and you can get the plastic replaced in good time. Once you’ve elected to have the card on your phone you cannot ask for the plastic version until you renew next time.

hopefully, there will be an update on the details of the easing next week... if train travel is ok, maybe 7 sisters (wide open 'path') And we'll find out what 3 months off has done to our heart and leg muscles.

i am looking forward to it when its ready to reopen. And hopefully do a Coastal Walk. Not just a Country Walk.

No need to be paranoid about the need for a 'wide open path'. How likely are you to catch covid in the open air?

It might be a chance to give a rare airing to longer walks which don't have a conveniently placed pub. I've written a couple myself (Wolverton/Northampton and Wickham Market/Felixstowe) but I'm sure there are others!

Maybe we could do a Walk somewhere where we take the Greater Anglia Railway Trains are. The New Trains?

Update from Ramblers at https://www.ramblers.org.uk/advice/coronavirus.aspx

It has also been confirmed by the UK government that organised sport and physical activity, which include Ramblers group walks, can also resume from the 29 March, and are exempt from legal gathering limits. Ramblers volunteer activities will also be able to take place once again.
Good news eh?

So we're spared the Rule of Six?

Any thoughts about a walk for next week: it would be so lovely to get out walking as a group again:

Thank you to the wise council of walk setters for Project Restart. Most of us live on our own so SWC train trips are essential travel. Inproves mental health and eases strain on NHS. Thank you again.

There's been a lively debate amongst SWC posters on when Posting should start again, what is the definition of "local", what can be construed as "organised" and how best to manage track and trace.
To address some of these problems, I've set up a web site at https://www.lwug.co.uk
Here you can sign on (you may need to Register first).
Once you've done this you can go to "Our Events" to see what's on offer
To get the ball rolling and take advantage of the better weather this week, there's a mid-week walk in Kent posted on this site.
If you'd like to go on this walk, just click/tap "Book to go on this Event" and you're done with all the track and trace stuff and good to go.
I hope of you find this useful and you enjoy the walk!

Great website Mike, very good job! I have been only once with SWC (one long and nice walk last summer) but more than happy to retake it now that rules allow it. Can I register or need to ask some of the members I joined at that time?

@Davide
Yes David, just click on Register with LWUG (for track and trace purposes). You'll just need to enter your name, email address and the name of an SWC poster (use me if you can't remember who posted the walk you attended)

Hi Mike, hope it's OK to use your name for LWUG. I joined walks last year to places like Benfleet and Epping Forest, but don't have the details anymore.

@Ruth - that's absolutely fine Ruth

I tired to post Walk 141 Haywards Heath Circular for Weds 14th April but it hasn't appeared. Did I mess up or is there an approvals process?

Thanks Mike A

I have just registered on the new website. I used your name Mike as a poster I know, as I saw you told others to do so. I hope that’s ok. I’ve been walking with the group since 2015 and these walks are one of the things I miss most during lockdown!
